PhD positions in the broad area of mechanics of advanced materials and metamaterials are available in the group of Prof. Stefano Gonella (http://personal.cege.umn.edu/~gonella/) at the University of Minnesota.

Current topics of interest include: 1) Nonlinear metamaterials, including soft architected lattices; 2) Topological and non-reciprocal metamaterials; 3) Tunable and programmable multifunctional materials and structures.

There are vacancies for the following positions

in the research groups of Prashant Saxena and Chinthapenta R Viswanath in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at IIT Hyderabad.

PhD position – Inkjet printing and characterisation of electronic devices

The Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione (DII) at the University of Pisa is involved in several areas of the field of Information Technology. Within the field of Nanoelectronics, the research activities of DII include the characterization and fabrication of micro and nano scale devices, to be exploited in a wide range of electronic applications (e.g., digital, Radio frequency, flexible, portable, etc.).

The Division of Mechanics at Lund University, Sweden, invites applicants for a PhD position oriented towards multiscale modelling of grain boundaries in metals. The research program focuses on improving the understanding and modelling capabilities of impurity induced grain boundary embrittlement, with special emphasis fusion reactor materials, i.e. primarily tungsten. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop an atomistically-informed continuum-based theoretical and computational framework to predict the failure of impurity inhabited grain boundaries.

Our partner Weizmann Institute Science in Israel is currently trying to fill a PhD position for the FiBreMoD project. The title of the PhD project is "Microscale matrix and interfacial properties of fibre-reinforced composites", and will be supervised by Prof. Daniel Wagner.
