Topology optimization

Postdoc in computational mechanics & topology optimization at SUTD in Singapore

Submitted by OliverWeeger on

We invite applications for fully funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions with the Bio-inspired Robotics & Design Laboratory (http://brd.sutd.edu.sg) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

The project will investigate modelling, simulation and optimisation of soft robots and structures using computational mechanics. Research areas include: structural and morphological optimisation and multi-physics optimisation.

Multiple postdoc openings at UC San Diego (USA) and Cardiff University (UK)

Submitted by alicia on

Applications are invited from highly motivated researchers for two postdoctoral positions immediately available in the Multiscale Multiphysics Design Optimisation (M2DO) lab, led by H Alicia Kim.

Candidates must have a strong background in mathematical optimization, finite element method and computer programming, and be committed to applying rigorous mathematical tools to structural design and optimization. Experience or interest in developing numerical methods and/or large-scale high performance computing and collaborative software development is also desirable.

A level-set based IGA formulation for topology optimization of flexoelectric materials

Submitted by hd_ghasemi@yahoo.com on

Abstract

This paper presents a design methodology based on a combination of isogeometric analysis (IGA),

level set and point wise density mapping techniques for topology optimization of piezoelectric /

flexoelectric materials. The fourth order partial differential equations (PDEs) of flexoelectricity,

which require at least C 1 continuous approximations, are discretized using Non-Uniform Rational

B-spline (NURBS). The point wise density mapping technique with consistent derivatives is

Opening for a new Master student in the Computational Mechanics group, Georgia Southern University

Submitted by Xuchun Ren on

The Computational Mechanics group at Georgia Southern University, led by Dr. Xuchun Ren, is looking for a new Research Assistant, who are capable of and interested in performing high-quality research on engineering design. The research, supported by  U.S. National Science Foundation and Startup Funding, entails building a solid mathematical foundation, devising efficient numerical algorithms, and developing practical computational tools for stochastic topology optimization.

Submitted by alicia on

Applications are sought for one Post-Doctoral Researcher at University of California, San Diego (USA) and one Post-Doctoral Researcher at Cardiff University (UK) and two PhDs (Cardiff) to join a very active cross-continental M2DO research lab. The primary research focus is to develop topology optimization for multiscale and multiphysics problems optimizing materials and structures. The research members are required to travel between US and UK regardless of their bases.

Research experience in the following areas are required.
