Looking for a PhD student

A Ph.D. position has recently become available in my research group (www.eng.uwyo.edu/mechanical/research/frick/), to explore thermo-mechanical
behavior of shape memory polymers for biomedical applications.  A
strong candidate with a M.S. or B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering,
Materials Science, or a related discipline is required.  A good
academic record, a clear interest in experimental sciences, and an
enthusiasm to conduct outstanding research are the only prerequisites.

5th IC on Fracture of Polymers, Composites and Adhesives - just 4 weeks to go!

The 5th International Conference on Fracture of Polymers, Composites and Adhesives will be held in the beautiful Alpine village of Les Diablerets, Switzerland, 7-11 September. Les Diablerets is situated 120 km from Geneva's international airport and is easily reached either by car or by public transport.

The full oral and poster programs, as well as registration details can be found on the conference website at www.tc4pca.elsevier.com

Post-Doctoral Opportunities on Molecular Modeling, Strachan Group, MSE, Purdue University

We are seeking to hire an outstanding candidate as a post-doctoral fellow to work on large-scale molecular dynamics of polymers and polymer composites. The project focuses on the characterization of the molecular mechanisms that govern the mechanical responseof these materials. The successful candidate will work in the Strachan group and will have the opportunity to interact with experimentalists and theoreticians in academia, industry and national labs.

hi,

Consider a polymer for which the potential energy resulting from attractive forces between the chains decreases markedly as the chains are oriented. What can one say about the effect of these forces upon the equilibrium stress-strain curve for that polymer rubber? and how large will be the small-elongation tensile modulus?

thanks

5 PhD positions in solid mechanics

There are 5 vacant PhD positions with good stipend in the field of solid mechanics, constitutive modelling and numerical simulations. We are looking for very competent, creative students all over the world. It is a rare opportunity for a young scientist to develop his versatile skills and this is your chance. As some people know, SIMLab (Structural Impact Laboratory) is internationally reputed group working on problems related to Crashworthiness and Structural Impact. Our group recently got a Centre for Research based Innovation (CRI). All these positions are filling under CRI. Please find the details in the links here:
