A PhD position is open for summer or fall 2017 in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on multiscale modeling of materials for energy applications with emphasis on ferroic materials. The candidates must have earned a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics, specifically continuum mechanics and finite element modeling, and need to be familiar with a programming language (preferably C/C++).

One PhD (4 years) and two Postdoc (3 years) vacancies are available in the composites research group at Ghent University in Belgium. The different open positions deal with nondestructive testing methods for composites inspection (vibration/thermography) and fatigue of 3D printed metals. Advanced Virtual Design of 3D Printed Fusion Reactor Components

This is to continue recent work that uses X-ray tomography, high performance computing and finite element analysis to design the plasma facing wall of the ITER reactor. Recent related publications can be found below:

Applications are sought for four Post-Doctoral Research Associates and two PhDs to join a very active research group at Cardiff University, UK (School of Engineering).  Based in Cardiff, there will be frequent interactions with the University of California, San Diego as well as major aerospace companies in the UK. The research will formulate and develop numerical methods for mulitiscale and multiphysics design optimisation using level set topology optimization.
