We are looking for three postdoctoral researchers to work at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
1. Two researchers are to work on water remediation and desalination using computational methods at the atomistic level.
2. One researcher is to work on fracture behavior of weldments using computational methods at the microstructural leve.
To improve further computational tools for fracture, we need a
talented phd. We are developping transition models from damage
to fracture for several type of materials (quasi-brittle and ductile).

The theoretical framework is the Thick Level Set model for damage (TLS)
and the numerical implementation uses level sets and the extended
finite element method (X-FEM).

The Computational Physics Group at the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the post-doctoral associate position in Computational Science and Engineering. The successful candidates will be a key part of a team that is developing and implementing adaptive, multiscale, high-performance (parallel) computational algorithms for numerical solutions of chemo-thermo-mechanical PDE’s with emphasis on complex heterogeneous materials, such as heterogeneous reactive composites, etc.
The work involves working independently and collaboratively on "Investigating the fatigue life of different grades of polyethylene". The Phd student will be conducting heavy experimental work to fully characterize the fatigue property of Polyethylene. The modeling part is the second part of this work; which involves developing criterion and cumulative damage laws to predict the fatigue life of polyethylene under multiaxial loadings.
The section for Mixed Conductors, Department of Energy Conversion and Storage, Technical University of Denmark, is seeking a candidate for a PhD student position as part of the project “Synfuel: Sustainable synthetic fuels from biomass gasification and electrolysis”.
There is an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate position in the Center for Modeling, Simulation and Imaging in Medicine (CeMSIM) at RPI, Troy NY to work on problems involving novel iterative algorithms for nonlinear problems in solid mechanics using nonconventional discretization schemes. Two postdoctoral fellow positions in solid mechanics/biomechanics at Dartmouth are available from July 2015.
The subjects of research include, but are not limited to, mechanics of morphogenesis in embryos and plants, fast motion of plants (e.g., the Venus flytrap's rapid closure), mechanical self-assembly and instability of thin structures (e.g., DNA, origami structures, plant tendrils, self-assembly of nanostructures, etc.), and bioinspired structures.
