The candidate will interact closely with personnel at the start-up company iNfinitesimal, LLC and collaborators at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  The position will involve research at the intersection of engineering and biology with an emphasis on development of nano and micro technologies for biological applications.

Desired Qualifications:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position within the Micro and Nano Mechanics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University.  The candidate will perform research in the area of nanomechanics of high-performance materials such as 2D materials, nanowires, and biomaterials. The candidate will be expected to contribute to a vibrant multidisciplinary research group and be able to work in close collaboration with chemists and theoreticians.

Requirements:

IMATI-CNR and the Mathematics Department of the University of Pavia offer a postdoc position on isogeometric analysis. This research project focuses on the design and implementation of innovative isogeometric methods for solid/fluid mechanics.  In particular the target applications are related to

- nearly-incompressible and fibered materials

- fluids in geological formations

The Automated Computational Mechanics Laboratory (ACML) at The Ohio State University has an immediate opening for a one-year postdoctoral research associate position. The project is aimed at the application of the finite element method for simulating and optimizing the multiphysics laser ablation process in aircrafts. The optimization process involves characterizing the optimal laser parameters (e.g., peak power, fluence, intensity, etc.) to maximize the coating removal efficiency while minimizing damage to the substrate material.

There are three aims: (i) to couple ParaFEM with OpenFOAM for massively parallel fluid-structure interaction; (ii) to release that code into the community and (iii) to use the new capability to study the performance of "whole" wind farms, insilico.

Candidates with good academic credentials and an interest to work in experimental research projects are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidate should have a master’s degree in mechanical/materials science/aerospace or related field with a good background in Solid Mechanics, Materials Science, and Experimental Methods (including but not limited to SEM, TEM, and nanofabrication methods).
