LRET Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Safety and Reliability Engineering

Building on a 20-year track record in safety engineering, the School of Engineering at the University of Aberdeen in partnership with The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust (The LRET) is establishing a centre of excellence for research and teaching in the safety and reliability of engineering systems, structures and processes.

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the group of Prof. M. Urbakh in lively Tel-Aviv. Topics are centered around nano and micro-scale tribology (friction, dissipation, adhesion, wear) involving theory, modeling, and computer simulation of frictional and nonlinear
dissipation phenomena.

The projects focus on: (i) studies of friction at micropatterened surfaces with biomimetic and sensing applications, and (ii) novel approaches to control frictional response at the nanoscale through application of electric field, light and force modulations.

Two PhD positions are available to work on corrosion of aluminum and steel. Students are expected to study "how corrosion affects the microstructres in the metal and alloys".

dstl PhD studentship: Electropulsing and nanostructured steels

Imperial College London - Department of Materials

Duration of Studentship: 42 months

Applications are invited for a studentship in the field of electropulse-assistant nano-steel processing, leading to the award of a PhD degree. The post is to conduct research in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London and is supported by an initial bursary of £15,823 p.a. and the tuition fees are paid at the home rate only.

The Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Houston has an opening for a non-tenure track instructional faculty position.  The ideal candidate should be passionate about teaching will be expected to teach 3 undergraduate courses a semester and help with ABET. A competitive 9-month salary is expected and summer support is possible as well. Although the position is non-tenure track, our intention would be to hire someone for the long-haul.

At Oxford University we are seeking to appoint a post doctoral Research Assistant to work on the modelling of cavity nucleation and growth in the heat affected zone of a welded component operating in the creep regime. Environment

The post-doctoral position will be accomplished within the BATir (Building, Architecture & Town planning) department of the Brussels School of Engineering/´Ecole polytechnique de Bruxelles, at the Universit´e Libre de Bruxelles (http://batir.ulb.ac.be ). Duration of the position: 18 months, starting in April 2012.
