PhD position in the filed of computational mechanics on metal alloys based Additive Manufacturing

Submitted by yancheng.zhang on

GRAMME project aims at developing an efficient and relevant coupling strategy in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process modelling between microstructure development and anisotropic mechanical behaviour at part scale during and after construction. An efficient computational platform based on model-order reduction and experimental validations will be established by the end of the project to meet this objective.

PhD fully-funded position in Computational Solid Mechanics - emphasis on Fracture Mechanics (call deadline: end of July 2022) – University of Udine (Italy)

Submitted by enrico.salvati1 on

Structural Integrity and MEchanical Design (SIMED) group is seeking a PhD candidate to conduct research in computational solid mechanics, mainly applied to structural problems. The successful applicant will work at the Polytechnic Engineering and Architecture Department (DPIA) of the University of Udine, under Dr Enrico Salvati’s supervision.

PhD position in the field of fracture mechanics of fibre composites

Submitted by Bent F. Sørensen on

We have an open position as a PhD student in the area of fracture mechanics of fibre composites. The focus of the position is to develop "element test specimens", i.e., test specimens that are purposely-designed with the aim of checking the accuracy of model predictions of damage evolution (two or more damage types) in composite structures subjected to static and cyclic loading.

Postdoctoral Position in Discrete Element Modelling at Hongik University in Sejong, Korea

Submitted by iammrson on

One postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Department of Mechanical and Design Engineering at Hongik University in Sejong, Republic of Korea.

The postdoc candidate should have a strong background in computational mechanics of granular materials (especially, in particle-level high-speed contact/impact of solids), numerical methods (such as DEM and FEM), and computational code development with C/C++, Fortran and/or Python.

Two Fully Funded Ph.D. Position in Multiscale Modeling of Additive Manufacturing and 2D Materials

Submitted by Kmomeni on

Two fully supported Ph.D. positions are available starting Fall 2022 in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at the University of Alabama on multiscale modeling of materials and processes. The objective of one project is to model the synthesis of 2D materials to design new processes to improve synthesis efficiency, as well as synthesis by the design of these materials, and to use machine learning algorithms to design materials and their synthesis process. The other is focused on modeling the additive manufacturing processes for in-space manufacturing.

Postdoc position at University of Southern California

Submitted by Hangbo Zhao on

The Zhao Research Group at USC has a postdoc position starting in Summer or Fall 2022 in the area of mechanics and manufacturing of flexible electronic sensors. Candidates with experience in finite element simulation, material characterization, and sensor design and fabrication are encouraged to apply by sending a CV to Dr. Hangbo Zhao (hangbozh [at] usc.edu).

PhD position in Machine Learning and Physical Simulation

Submitted by Alessandro Luc… on

At Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, Italy, there are 2 PhD scholarships funded by my ERC Starting Grant ALPS - AI-based Learning for Physical Simulation. In this project, which will start next September, we aim to build algorithms that can learn physical models starting from experimental data.
