The conference hotel is in a tourist area of the Waikiki Beach in Honolulu.
For those that make reservations by 1 January 2008, the hotel offers a
substantially discounted rate of about US$149/night (single or double
occupancy) (The room rates in Honolulu are normally about $265/night in
Waikiki). The conference deadlines above have been chosen to facilitate
inexpensive hotel accommodations for ALL the participants at the conference

Each presentation at ICCES08 will be of  20 minutes duration (including

Please submit an abstract, only if you intend to present the paper in
person, in good faith.

All accepted papers will appear in the open access journal, ICCES(
www.techscience.com/icces).

We invite you to submit an abstract for the 6th international conference on Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials, to be held at the Portola Plaza Hotel, Monterey CA, March 30 - April 1, 2008. The conference is held in coordination with the journal of the same name. (Profs. Igor Emri and Wolfgang Knauss, editors-in-chief.)  The hotel overlooks beautiful Monterey Bay. ICFRM is the major international conference for exchanging and archiving knowledge on the development of materials for both near and long-term fusion energy systems. It assembles the world community to present their results on research, development, and deployment of materials for fusion devices. The scope of the conference ranges from fundamental materials science to in-service materials performance, and is delivered in a mix of invited and contributed oral and poster presentations.

The mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical behaviors of nanostructured materials such as nanocrystalline materials, nanowires, nanofilms, and nanotubes have been increasingly studied with advanced simulation techniques such as the molecular dynamics (MD) method and its various variants including the Car-Parrinello method, Monte Carlo method, the tight-binding MD method, and first principle methods. However, quite often the analyses neglect the correlations among the different types of behaviors of the materials. Characterization of such correlations necessitates multiphysics approaches in modeling, simulation, and experiments. Examples include fatigue of nanocrystalline materials in corrosive environments, piezoelectric behavior of nanowires, and thermal-mechanical coupling of the behavior of nanobelts. With advances in the development of nanomaterials, there is a strong need to quantify material behavior accounting for multiphysics processes in a coupled manner. This symposium is intended to bring together researchers in multiphysics modeling, simulation and experiments of nanomaterials and nanostructured materials. The focus is primarily on a survey of the state of the art in molecular level multiphysics modeling, simulation, and experiments. Presentations on method development, behavior characterization, atomistic description, and continuum representation are all strongly encouraged.  (USNCCM website)

International ECCOMAS Thematic Conference VipIMAGE 2007 - I ECCOMAS THEMATIC CONFERENCE ON COMPUTATIONAL VISION AND MEDICAL IMAGE PROCESSING

The International Conference VipIMAGE - I ECCOMAS THEMATIC CONFERENCE ON COMPUTATIONAL VISION AND MEDICAL IMAGE PROCESSING will be held in the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, Porto, Portugal, on October 17-19, 2007.

The Symposium on Characterization and Modeling of Time-Dependent Materials and Processes at the 2007 ASME Mechanics and Materials conference will be held June 3-7, 2007, at the University of Texas at Austin. Additional information about the conference can be found at the conference website.

Papers dealing with modeling and experimental aspects of the subject area, involving all materials, are sought. The mechanical response should be non-negligable in cases involving non-mechanical fields. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: characterization and modeling of behavior at multiple scales; viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity; transport, chemically and electronically active processes; multiphase and biomaterial systems; thermodynamics; shape memory; mechanics of testing; micro/nanoindentation on time-dependent materials; dynamic behavior of polymers and composites; large deformations; residual stresses; time-dependent damage and failure; polycrystalline and single crystal behaviors; multifunctional materials; mechanics of processing.
