Dear everybody,
I have just studied Abaqus and would like to use Vumat to simulate the hot ductile

fracture criterion of Freudenthal which have the equation: D=integral(0-fracture strain)

of (Smises stress)*d(strain). The fracture will be appear when I reach 1 unit.
Could you please show me how to write algorithm adding temperature to calculate (D) and

out put (D) in Vumat.

thanks you so much

I am looking forward to hearing from you

questions about VUEL abaqus

Submitted by ADA on

Hi everyone,

I have a problem about my VUEL.

In my input file I define user element as 2 dimentional plane stress element by

*user element, nodes=4, type=vu1, properties=8, coordinates=2

1, 2

However, I output the variable  COORDS(NBLOCK, NNODE, MCRD)

here, MCRD, however, equals to 3 not 2, and COORDS:

-1,-1, 0

 1,-1,NaN

 1, 1,NaN

-1, 1,NaN

 Where's wrong? Please help me.

Wrinkling of Interfacial Layers in Stratified Composites

Submitted by Stephan Rudykh on

by Y. Li, N. Kaynia, S. Rudykh and M. C. Boyce  Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Wrinkling vs. long-wavelength instability envelope for multi-layered soft composite: Predictive analytical and finite element models are presented to reveal the instability mechanics governing reversible wrinkling of interfacial layers. The biomimetic guidelines for the design of reversible, tunable, and multi-functional layered soft composites with transforming interfacial layers are developed and verified via 3D printed prototypes.
