Graduate researchers are being sought to join the Penn State Ultrasonics Laboratory, which is part of the department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Penn State. Research topics include, but are not limited to ultrasonics for nondestructive evaluation/testing, stress waves in solids, influence of microstructure on wave propagation and scattering, diffuse field methods, acoustics applied to qualification of additively manufactured parts, acoustic microscopy, nonlinear elasticity, mechanics of soft materials, and acoustic metamaterials.

The new group of Prof. J. Gaume at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) invites applications by highly motivated, committed, and talented students/researchers for 2 PhD and 1 PostDoc positions in the field of Computational Mechanics for Snow and Avalanche Modeling.

Christoph Keplinger, of University of Colorado Boulder, will be the next Editor of the iMechanica Journal Club. The Journal Club was initiated in January 2007, soon after the launch of iMechanica. It has quickly grown into a flagship feature of iMechanica, epitomizing the vibrant topics and dynamic researchers at the frontier of mechanics.

Ph.D. research positions are available immediately in the Advanced Materials Research Lab at the University of Miami to perform interdisciplinary research in the area of bio-inspired self-healing of cementitious materials.
