We are seeking two highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows with interests in experimental and/or computational studies of dynamic deformation mechanisms of concrete. Successful candidates will be appointed as Postdoctoral Fellows in the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute (HEMI) at Johns Hopkins University, and will be associated with the Materials Science in Extreme Environments University Research Alliance (MSEE URA). HEMI is an interdisciplinary institute which seeks to develop the science and technology to protect people, structures, and the planet.

Greetings from Lexington, Kentucky! We are an interdisciplinary research group in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kentucky. We specialize in the modeling, computation and simulation of materials across multiple length- and time-scales. Our missions include advancing fundamental understanding of materials under different operating environments and making contributions to material design and discovery for diverse applications.

Ph.D. and Postdoc positions are available in the  School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (First Class Academic Discipline) at Central South University in Dr. Li's research group. Lists of topics of interest are:

1. Rain/sand erosion;

2. Fatigue of fiberglass composite for wind turbine blade;

3. Impact mechanics;

A PhD position is available at the University of Minnesota in the group of Prof. Stefano Gonella. The position is in the general area of mechanics and physics of solids, with emphasis on mechanical and elastic metamaterials and wave physics.

Current topics of interest include:

3)       Mechanics of multilayer lattices

This paper presents an integrated experimental and numerical investigation of the dynamic deployment behavior of Composite thin-walled lenticular tube (CTLT) that wraps around a central hub, with emphasis on the effect of long-term storage. The deployment experiments were performed on the CTLT prototype both before and after it had been stowed for extended storage periods. The results indicate that after being stowed for 6 and 10.5 months the CTLT is deployed slower and the deployment time increases by 8.2% and 15.0%, respectively.
