Submitted by Myoung-gyu Lee on

A postdoctoral researcher position is available in the area of sheet metal forming, plasticity theory, computational modeling of forming of advanced high strength steels, light-weight alloys  at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) working under the supervision of Prof. Myoung-Gyu Lee. He/She will also work with Prof. Frederic Barlat who is a world famous scholar in the field of plasticity.

Finite-Element Analysis of Current-Induced Thermal Stress n a Conducting Sphere

Submitted by hasanzhong on

Understanding the electrothermal-mechanical behavior of electronic inter-

connects is of practical importance in improving the structural reliability of

electronic devices. In this work, we use the finite-element method to analyze

the Joule-heating-induced thermomechanical deformation of a metallic sphere

that is sandwiched between two rigid plates. The deformation behavior of the

sphere is elastic–perfectly plastic with Young’s modulus and yield stress

decreasing with temperature. The mechanical stresses created by Joule

Thermodynamic model for strain-induced crystallization in rubber - Eccomas

Submitted by Joachim Guilie on

Natural rubber (NR) is known to crystallize under strain (SIC) so that NR samples subjected to loading-unloading cycles exhibit hysteresis. A brief review of the numerous experiments conducted on this material is given. Detailed information on the microstructure is therefore available, particularly simultaneous measurements of stress versus elongation and

ICTAM(2012) will be held in Beijing, China, from 19 to 24 August, 2012

Submitted by Min Yi on

The 23rd International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics  (ICTAM2012) will be held in Beijing, China, from 19 to 24 August, 2012. The Congress is hosted by The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM).

The Congress venue is the China National Convention Center (CNCC) which is ideally located in the heart of the Olympic Green of Beijing, adjacent to the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) and the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube).

Postdoctoral/Research Associate on Computational Mechanics of Granular Solids

Submitted by cuitino on

A postdoctoral/research associate position is available in the area of computational modeling of granular materials at Rutgers University working under the supervision of Prof. Cuitino. Candidates with a strong background in computational mechanics of solids, interfacial mechanics, granular materials and computational methods are highly encouraged to apply.

Postdoc position on multiaxial fatigue

Submitted by pragtic on

A post-doc position is available at the VSB - Technical University Ostrava, Czech Republic on multiaxial fatigue. Because VSB-TUO is joint in our FADOFF project on validating multiaxial criteria (www.fadoff.cz) and development of PragTic fatigue solver (www.pragtic.com), I expect a close cooperation with the successful applicant. The deadline for an electronic application is nevertheless very close - next Monday August 20, 2012. See the brief version (http://www.pragtic.com/docu/Postdocs_VSB_brief.pdf) and full version (http://www.pragtic.com/docu/Postdocs_VSB.pdf) of the call - the position on multiaxial fatigue is K4.
