Postdoc Position in Computational Nanomechanics and Multiscale Modeling at Columbia University

Submitted by Baoxing Xu on

The energy/bio/nanomechanics group under the direction of Prof. Xi Chen at Columbia University is looking to recruit a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to study, based on computational nanomechanics and multiscale modeling, the mechanisms of energy absorption, conversion, harvesting, and storage using nanomaterials. The initial appointment is one year and the position can be renewed based on performance.

Plotting the Johnson-Cook strength model

Submitted by HS_impact on

I'm trying to plot the stress-strain curve described by the Johnson-Cook strength (and eventually damage) models. The strength model is defined as:

σ=[A+Bεn][1+C ln(ε_dot*)][1-T*m]

where A, B, C, n, and m are material constants, ε_dot* is the non-dimensionalized strain rate, and T* is the homologous temperature where T*=(T-T0)/(Tmelt-T0)

2011 Gordon Research Conference/Seminar on Adhesion Science

Submitted by Rong Long on

I would like to bring your attention to the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Adhesion Science, which will be held from July 24 – 29, 2011, at Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, U.S.A.  This conference is chaired by Chung-Yuen Hui at Cornell University and Kenneth Shull at Northwestern University.

non linear concrete analysis using load steps

Submitted by creativekishore on

Hi

I'm using ansys to model a 3D concrete beam model with reinforcement to conduct nonlinear static analysis.

Plz throw some light on how to use the load steps and restart options.

also do tell me on the steps /options for seeing the cracks that appear in the beam model.
