Surface roughness evolution during early stages of mechanical cyclic loading

The effect of crystal size and initial dislocation density on surface roughness evolution in FCC single crystals during the early number of cycles of mechanical cyclic loading is investigated using three dimensional discrete dislocation dynamics simulations. Crystals having size less than 2 μm show early development of surface slip localization, while larger ones show a more uniform distribution of surface steps. The surface roughness is found to increase with increasing number of loading cycles with larger crystals showing a high roughening rate compared to smaller crystals.

ANSYS cyclic variable amplitude displacement

Hi everyone... I've been working on a research study of Steel moment resisting frames. It includes finite element analysis of the frame in ANSYS apdl software. However, I'm facing a problem with the application of loads. The basic loading history for a single specimen testing program in the multiple step test in which loading history consists of stepwise increasing deformation cycles as shown in the attached file. In the basic loading history, the cycles shall be symmetric in peak deformations.

I need to apply the aforesaid type of loading on a particular nodes.

PREDICTION FOR DEFORMED PART WITH TIME

Dear ALL,

Does anyone here has an experience carry out  FE analysis for a part[bracket] which was deformed plastically during cyclic loading test.

I'm now working to resolve this issue when a bracket was fail to withstand the constant loading of 500N during cyclic test. It was reported fail at ~3800 cycles which was less than target.

Rgds.

Need Help for Abaqus/CAE ( best method for fatigue test for tensile test for a number of cycle)

Dear friends, i current doing a project work on testing fatigue life of superelastic nitinol. And since i am very new in using abaqus for testing the simulation, i seeking help from people around here to ask for method to test the work. My objective is to set a maximum elongation for 1%-6% of elongation and test for 40,000 cycle if it can work for this amount of cycle..

i Hope anyone can help me as i need to finish this project in order to graduate and i didnt get any single help from regarding this software from my side..

Cyclic loading abaqus

Hi colleague

can you help me to define a cyclic load of 1 kN (120 cycle per min ) in Abaqus?

does it diifrent to use static or dynamic analysis?

Thanks.

How to transfer AutoCAD model to ANSYS? How to model a cyclic load in ANSYS?!?

Hi everybody,

I am trying to model a connection in ANSYS and analyse it under cyclic load (Earthquake Load). first of all I have done my 3D model in Auto CAD but I dont know how to transfer this to ANSYS!!!

Also I have the graph for the cyclic load which is based on number of Cycles (x-axis) and storey drift (y-axis) but I dont know how I am supposed to model this in ANSYS!!!! can anyone help me and guide me through this?! Thank you very much.

Literature for Multi-surface plasticity

Dear all,

Can someone please guide me to comprehensive literature for implementing multi-yield surface plasticity in numerical codes. I am not sure if I, properly, understand the algorithm.

Thanks in advance

Fatigue

Hi,

I d like to ask you how could fatigue loading be modelled in cae. I know that you can set up the load as a sin function with min and max values. But where do you set-up the total nr of cycles? Is at the step part and where exactly?

And another question could anyone provide me with details of the input file for the hysteresis loop, where the stess nd strain resistance of the material drops after certain cycles..

Regards,

My name is Georges Ayoub; I am looking for a postdoctoral research position in mechanical and material engineering in the field of the polymer science, polymer behaviour and fatigue.
I defended my PHD at the beginning of this academic year (2010/2011). I am very motivated to start a Postdoctoral position, at the end of my thesis, in an Anglo-Saxon country.

Elasto-Plastic Analysis of metal component with Cyclic Loading

Hi,

I am pursuing my master's in Mech. Engg. and working on Abaqus for FEA of components. In one of the analysis,

I am required to apply cyclic loading on the component to determine the Stresses at the edges. Its a compression

cyclic loading with kinematic hardening taken into account. From the documentation for ABAQUS 6.9.1, I found that

in order to apply kinematic hardening in metals, one must take it as Combined (Isotropic + Kinematic) Hardening.

The two concerns I have about this analysis are:

Cyclic volume changes in rubber

This is a study dealing with the volume variation in filled crystallizable natural (F-NR) and uncrystallizable styrene butadiene (F-SBR) rubbers subjected to cyclic loadings. During their deformation, such materials exhibit volume variation induced by the cavitation phenomenon and the decohesion between particles and the rubber matrix.

MODELLING OF RCC COLUMN AND APPLICATION OF CYCLIC LOADING

Hi

All I am trying to model reinforced concrete column.I am using concrete damaged placity model.I used truss element for main reinforcement and ties .All main reinforcement and ties are embeded in concrete column.I need the following answer.

1-How ties confine the concrete column.

2-How can I apply the cyclic loading.

Please could you provide me any help in this regard.

reinforced concrete walls under cyclic (quasi-static) loading in ABAQUS

Hi,

I started modelling the
behaviour of the reinforced concrete walls under cyclic loading using
ABAQUS/Explicit
.  I used a shell element part with solid homogeneous
section and defined the concrete behaviour using concrete damaged plasticity
material definition. Embedded truss elements were used to define the steel
rebars. In 2 different steps (left and right) I defined the cyclic loading (in
plane) as imposed displacement (using amplitude-smooth step).

My question are:
