Dear Friends of EML,
Happy New Year!
2020 was an extremely challenging year for all because of COVID 19. For most of us, the lockdowns and work from home negatively impacted our research activities; for some, it provided a time to reflect on the value of our work; and, for a few, it presented an unusual opportunity to explore new directions of research.
Nominations for the 2021 USACM Honors and Awards are now being accepted. For information on guidelines and submitting nominations, go to this web page:
http://forms.usacm.org/2021_HA_Call
The deadline for submission is January 31, 2021. As a past President of the USACM, I'd like to encourage members of the iMechanica community to consider suitable awardees and nominate individuals as appropriate.
Two funded Ph.D. positions in the broad area of computational mechanics are available in Dr. Yuan’s research group at the Aerospace Engineering Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Self-motivated individuals with research experience/ strong passion in ONE or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply,
Dear colleagues,
happy New Year!
The submission deadline for the special issue "Advances in Elastic Micro-Structured Systems and Metamaterials" is approaching.
Interested authors may have a look at the website for further information about the contents of the special issue and about the instructions to submit their manuscript:
https://www.mdpi.com/journal/applsci/special_issues/elastic_micro_struc…
I am looking for highly motivated, hardworking, and bright students to fill multiple fully-funded Ph.D. positions in my research group (www.ndsu-dams.org). Candidates are expected to have a strong background in computational mechanics and experimental methods. Course work or previous research experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: soft materials, constitutive modeling, artificial intelligence, experimental techniques, continuum mechanics, Additive Manufacturing, etc.

1. Introduction
Dear iMechanicians,
Growth-induced deformation or morphoelasticity is an interesting phenomenon ranging from living tissues to biological plants in nature. We recently publish a paper in JMPS that solves some challenging boundary value problems by addressing few key issues in computational morphoelasticity. It might be interesting for you.
Jie Yin of North Carolina State University will be the next Editor of the iMechanica Journal Club. The Journal Club was initiated in January 2007, soon after the launch of iMechanica. It has quickly grown into a flagship feature of iMechanica, epitomizing the vibrant topics and dynamic researchers at the frontier of mechanics.
Dear Colleagues,
After one-year effort, we are happy to announce that the SI on Instability and Bifurcation in Materials and Structures is now completed and comes out online (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/international-journal-of-non-linear-mechanics/special-issue/1089TRQ46GQ).
