Use Google to search in iMechanica and send email to you
iMechanica has a search box, but its algorithm is less sophisticated than that of Google. You may wish to use Google to search content on iMechanica. For example, if you are looking for friction in iMechanica, type into the Google search box: friction site:imechanica.org
If instead you are only interested in rolling friction, then type into the Google search box: "rolling friction" site:imechanica.org. The quotation marks ensure that all the included words appear in search results.
Post-doc Vacancy for Molecular Dynamics studies of Polymer Adhesion
The Micromechanics of Materials group in Groningen (the Netherlands) has an opening for a PostDoc to study the adhesion of polymers by meands of Molecular Dynamics simulations. The two-year position is part of a collaborative, multiscale modeling project in which other groups in the Netherlands focus on more macroscopic models. More info on http://micromechanics.phys.rug.nl/index.php?s=Openings or by contacting E.van.der.Giessen [at] rug.nl.
Journal Club Forum for April 15th: Fracture of Ferroelectrics
Ferroelectric materials have seen applications as actuators (the fuel injection system in the latest BMWs), sensors (naval sonar systems), and ferroelectric nonvolatile random access memories (FRAMs). For actuators and sensors it is the piezoelectric behavior of these materials that is exploited, while for FRAMs the ability of the material to “switch” polarization states is the essential feature for the application.

Continuum interpretation of virial stress in molecular simulations
The equivalence of the virial stress and Cauchy stress is reviewed
using both theoretical arguments and numerical simulations. Using
thermoelasticity problems as examples, we numerically demonstrate that
virial stress is equivalent to the continuum Cauchy stress. Neglecting
