PhD Position in 'Intelligent design of 2D nanostructures based on molybdenum' project

Submitted by mmazdz on

PhD student will be engaged in a research project of National Science Centre (NCN) carried out in the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research PAS, Poland on 'Intelligent design of 2D nanostructures based on molybdenum'.  The materials with a 2D atomic structure (flat, one layer) have drawn attention of researchers for years. The practical applications of graphene sheets, nanotubes can be observed in many areas from electronic industry up to civil engineering (e.g. concrete with nanotubes fillers).

With funding from the Haythornthwaite Foundation, the Executive Committee (EC) of the Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) of ASME is pleased to announce the establishment of the Haythornthwaite Research Initiation Grant Program, targeting university faculty engaged in research in theoretical and applied mechanics that are at the beginning of their academic careers.

The plausibility of <c + a> dislocation slip on {-12-11} planes in Mg

Submitted by Yizhe_Tang on

Dear Colleagues,

Please see the link for a recent article published in Scripta Materialia. In this article, active cross-slip behavior of screw <c + a> dislocations in Mg is observed, and the plausibility of <c + a> dislocation slip on new planes {-12-11} that have hitherto not been considered possible, is shown for the first time.

Thanks to Elsevier’s sharing policy, this article has 50 days' free access, and anyone can read and download it before August 30, 2018.
