This session will provide a forum for engineers and scientists alike to present their latest findings on the subject of computer aided modeling, simulation and analysis. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

boolean operation

Hi

I want to model a plate that connected with stiffening beams in ANSYS.

beams and plates has rigidly connected together, and there were no joints.

for model this, I first make an area and secondly extend this area to make a volume.

then I divide this volume to seperate plate and beams.

this is my question :

what relation exist berween components when they divide from one volume.

I mean suppose we have a volume, then we divide it in to two parts, what relation exist between this two new

Coupled Euler-Lagrangian FEA to simulate fluid entering micro pores in Abaqus/Explicit

Submitted by priyadd84 on

Hi all,

How to model a pipe which has pores in its internal surface, when the pipe is filled with water and closed at the both ends. Now when the pipe is impacted in the 3 point bending mode water will enter in side the pores and will cause some damping (resist bending).

Post-doctoral position at Univ. Pittsburgh: soft tissue buckling

Submitted by velankar on

A post-doctoral position is available in the lab of Sachin Velankar at the University of Pittsburgh to conduct experimental research on buckling of soft tissues in cephalopods (octopus or cuttlefish).

PhD position - Modelling of confinement and interfacial effects in small scale plasticity

Submitted by ULB-BATir on

The project is based on the well-known size effect exhibited by metals, i.e
the fact that their strengths are greatly enhanced when at least one
microstructural lengthscale is scaled down to the nanometer range or
when the size of the object is restricted to the micron or sub-micron
range. At these scales the interfaces and their associated properties
play a significant role. This project will focus on the effect of
spatial confinement on the three most common deformation mechanisms:
dislocation glide, mechanical twinning and mechanically-induced
martensitic phase transformations; and will be based on the synergies
between physically-based phenomenological modelling using
strain-gradient plasticity at the highest scale, and thorough

help needed - how to add and see truss elements added to orphan mesh in Abaqus

Submitted by dinogomez on

I am a new user to Abaqus, and am having some difficulties with adding non-linear truss elements.  I have created truss sections and assigned them to elements created in
sets and assigned to section assignments.  The only thing is I am not
able to see the truss elements.  When I do a query on beam/truss, it
says that the part dosn't contain any.  I am trying to add truss
elements to an imported orphan mesh, any help would be greatly
appreciated.Thanks!!!
