Interesting Material: d3o

Submitted by Gopinath Venkatesan on

I came across this web page recently, and it talks about a novel product d3o that can control impact effects by adjusting molecular structure in case of shock loads. If this material becomes a regular apparel material, we may see many Jackie Chans in the future. The material is d3o.

Visit this page to learn more about this material, This is not a SPAM. http://www.d3o.com/index.php

I don't know if you guys knew of this. I guess you do. Is this material really the way it is advertised, or some boasting included?

Odd order governing equation - FE formulation

Submitted by ramdas chennamsetti on

Hi!!

We generally encounter governing equations of even order. In FE formulation we get a symmetric coefficient matrix 'A' (AX = B). I have a few doubts as follwing.

[a] Any odd order governig equations ? If so, you may please write.

[b] Say, it has a functional also, then, what's the order of that differentiation?

crack velocity and FGM

Submitted by heqilin on

hi, everybody

i am going to simulate crack propagate by ABAQUS, but i haven't used ABAQUS before.

now i have two problems:

 1) can abaqus calculate the velocity of crack advancing?

2)FGM(functionally graded materials ). material property varies at

different position, such as density ,modulus, possion ration. can

abaqus deal with this problem by umat .

thanks.
