Professor Chao Xu's research group has two open post-doc positions at Northwestern Polytechnical Universtiy, Xi'an, China.

The position will start from January 2017 for at least two year period of contract.

The applicant must have a PhD degree. The applicant in structural dynamics, contact mechanics, wear, computation mechanics, nonlinear vibration, structural health monitoring and smart material and structures is strongly encouraged to apply. Please note the applicant should not be regular staff at other institutions. Fresh graduates are welcomed. 

functionally graded material

Hi everybody;

In an ansys 3D-planner model, Is it possible to vary the material properties (E) as a function of coordinates, E=f(x,y,z)? one way is to vary material properties for every element But in this condition material properties in boundry of elements is discontinuous. Is it possible to vary material properties as a function tool in ansys then map it on table similar loads and boundry condition?

please help me.

Hi friends;

I am doing modal analysis for functionally graded material in APDL ANSYS. equation of material properties has three independent variables,(x,y,z), and element type is solid186. I used from function tool for loading equation then saved it as table, hereinafter I used from TB 

command:

TB,elastic,1,,,,,%hh%

hh is table name.

warning message was created: "the function or table specification hh for material number 0 is currently allowed for joint element material specification. The TB command is ignored.

This award, launched in 2012, is given annually to rapidly emerging junior faculty who exemplify the creative use and development of mechanics. The intent of the award is to promote the field of mechanics, especially among young researchers. While interdisciplinary work that bridges mechanics with physics, chemistry, biology and other disciplines is encouraged, the ideal awardee will demonstrate clear inspiration from mechanics in his/her research.
