A model updating procedure to enhance structural analysis in the FE code NOSA-ITACA

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/331034322_A_model_updating_proc... This paper describes the model updating procedure implemented in NOSA-ITACA, a finite-element code for the structural analysis of masonry constructions of historical interest. The procedure, aimed at matching experimental frequencies and mode shapes, allows fine-tuning calculation of the free parameters in the model.

Multiple postdoc openings at UC San Diego (USA) and Cardiff University (UK) + two PhDs at Cardiff University (UK)

Applications are sought for multiple Post-Doctoral Research Associates at University of California, San Diego (USA) and Cardiff University (UK) and two PhDs (Cardiff) to join a very active cross-continental M2DO research lab. The primary research focus is to develop topology optimization for multiscale and multiphysics problems optimizing materials and structures. The research members are required to travel between US and UK regardless of their bases.

MEMS Doubly Clamped High Sensitivity Mass Detector

After reading the abstract on the resonanting cantilever mass detector, I think this paper might be of interest to some.  My colleagues and I wrote this for a MEMS device class we took Fall 2005 at Columbia University while I was an undergraduate.  It was a term design project.

Abstract – Micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) often provide cost effective

Mass sensing by using a resonating microcantilever

We recently reported the mass sensing by using resonating microcantilevers. The characterization of mass-sensing and its related sensitivity was suggested on the basis of elasticity theory.
