PhD Positions in Multiscale Modeling of Materials Under Extreme Conditions

Submitted by Kmomeni on

PhD positions are open immediately in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Labat Louisiana Tech Universityon multiscale modeling of materials under extreme conditions. This will be a collaborative project with MITGeorgia Tech, and Idaho National Labthat is supported by Department of Energy.  The candidates must have earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields (applicants with a MSc will be given priority) and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics.

1 years PostDoctoral Position - Universities Paris 13 & Paris 7 , Paris, France

Submitted by yann.charles on

A 1 year post Doctoral position is avalaible in France, on computational fractur mechanics. This is a join project between Univ. Paris 13 (LSPM lab), and Paris 7 (ITODYS lab).

The present postdoc subject is focused on the modeling cracking and buckling in thin films and nanostructures on stretchable substrate.

PhD Position in Multiscale Modeling of Hierarchical Materials

Submitted by Kmomeni on

A PhD position is open for summer or fall 2018 in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on multiscale modeling of hierarchical materials with an emphasis on printed materials. The candidates must have earned a B.Sc. (M.Sc. is preferred) degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related fields and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics, specifically continuum mechanics and finite element modeling, and need to have the basic knowledge of writing computer code (preferably using C/C++).

PhD Position in Multiscale Modeling of metamaterials

Submitted by Kmomeni on

A PhD position is open for Spring 2018 in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on multiscale modeling of metamaterials. The candidates must have earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields (applicants with a MSc will be given priority) and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics. Having knowledge of continuum mechanics, finite element modeling, and a programming language is a plus.

Ph.D. position(s) in the Mechanics of Materials at the Iowa State University

Submitted by Valery Levitas on

PhD position(s) are available for Spring 2016 semester to perform theoretical and computational work on phase field modeling of variaous structural changes in engineering materials and modeling of interaction between phase transformations and plasticity. MS degree and background in continuum and computational mechanics is required. Please send vita to Prof. Valery Levitas (vlevitas [at] iastate.edu (vlevitas[at]iastate[dot]edu)).

Postdoctoral Position Opening at Stanford University

Submitted by Cai Wei on

Prof. Wei Cai at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Stanford University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to lead a project on the modeling of grain structure evolution in the surface layer under friction.  The major task of this project is the development of a phase field model for grain/sub-grain structure evolution under friction.  It is likely that molecular dynamics and dislocation dynamics simulations would be required as well to obtain a good physical understanding of the process.
