Postdoc in multi-scale modelling of composites vibration response @ Ghent University (Belgium)

Submitted by wvpaepeg on

Nowadays, there is an increasing interest to use composite materials in automotive applications, in particular the use of fibre-reinforced plastics (carbon or glass fibres in a polymer matrix) is widely considered. The use of lighter materials, and hence a reduced fuel consumption, can be one of the possible solutions for reduced CO2 emissions. As the automotive industry is mainly familiar with metals and plastics, a lot of research is being spent on the mechanical response of composites under fatigue and impact loading, and on developing new design methodologies for these "new" materials.

Postdoc (m/f) on fracture toughness of high performance composite materials

Submitted by clemens.dransf… on

Your tasks: The main objective of this position is to improve the fracture toughness of high performance composite materials. You are expected to plan and implement manufacturing and processing experiments with carbon fibre thermoset prepregs and characterise their fracture properties. Furthermore, you will plan respective processing equipment and thoroughly investigate fracture mechanics of composites. This also includes the development of according numerical analyses and simulations.

How to use abaqus input files from abaqus example problems guide

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I am new to abaqus and am going through this tutorial on "Damage and failure of a laminated composite plate".  I find lot of input files at the bottom of this example. I tried "importing" them by going to file->import but I find that there is no geometry or mesh associated with it. Does one create the geometry oneself? How do we use the sample ".inp" and ".f" files to learn about abaqus sample problems.

cdmHUB: Publish and Run Composites Simulation Tools In the Cloud

Submitted by Wenbin Yu on
We recently launched the Composites Design and Manufacturing HUB (cdmHUB.org), a community-driven, collaborative platform that has the unique capability to let users to freely publish and run simulation codes in the cloud in addition to all the social network functionalities (blogging, questions/answers, groups, etc.).

Portuguese version of cadec-online available

Submitted by Echeban on

The Protuguese version of http://cadec-online.com/ is available. Previous versions include English, Spanish, and Farsi. English is the base version for the developement of the app. I did the Spanish translation. Farsi and Portuguese were done by volunters. We are looking for volunteers for other translations. pls contact me if interested.
