We have two PhD positions starting in 8/2019 to work on Mechanics and Manufacturing of Programmable Materials. This project intends to develop new methodology to design and fabricate materials/structures that exhibit programmable morphology and/or properties under external stimuli.
Position 1: The student is expected to conduct experimental research on programmable materials such as material preparation, 3D/4D printing, hybrid manufacturing, material and structure testing, etc.;
Openings are available for PhD. students in the Nanomechanical MUltiphysicals lab at UT-Dallas, with a start date of August 2019. Outstanding candidates may be considered for starting in May 2019.
The research topics are experimental in nature, and cover the areas of nanomechanics, thermal-electrical-mechanical coupling in nanostructures, and in-situ electron microscopy.
