Finite Volume Method
I am seeking advice on the capability of using Finite Volume Method to solve Hyperelastic Solid deformation. Can anyone help me to get a proper direction to analyze very large deformable structural problems?
Thanks,
S. Mitra

Professor David Barnett of Stanford University will receive the A.C. Eringen Medal from the Society of Engineering Science (SES). The prize is awarded in recognition of sustained outstanding achievements in Engineering Science. Professor Barnett will receive his award during the 49th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science to be held at Georgia Institute of Technology from October 9-12, 2012.
Professor Markus J. Buehler of MIT will receive the 2012 SES Young Investigator Medal from the Society of Engineering Science (SES). The prize is awarded to a young researcher in his or her ascendancy whose work has already had an impact in his/her field within Engineering Science. Professor Buehler will receive his award during the 49th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science to be held at Georgia Institute of Technology from October 9-12, 2012.
My colleague Juan José Ródenas has posted this interesting PhD position:
Position for a Marie-Curie PhD student in Computational Mechanics at Valencia, Spain.
Preseselection closing date 31 January 2012
Professor Zhigang Suo of Harvard University will receive the the William Prager Medal from the Society of Engineering Science (SES). The award is made in recognition of his outstanding research contributions in Solid Mechanics. Professor Suo will receive his award during the 49th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science to be held at Georgia Institute of Technology from October 9-12, 2012.
Professor Kyung-Suk Kim of Brown University will receive the 2012 Engineering Science Medal from the the Society of Engineering Science (SES). The prize, which consists of a plaque and a check for $2000, is awarded in recognition of a singularly important contribution to Engineering Science. Professor Kim will receive his award during the 49th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science to be held at Georgia Institute of Technology from October 9-12, 2012.
Hi,
Enthalpic and Entropic elasticity can anybody throw some light on the subject...some direction on the reference materials also will be helpful

Purpose - The main aim of this study is to investigate the effect of geometric variables on the stress and strain distributions as well as non-linear deformation behaviour of aluminium alloy 2024-T3 single-lap bolted joints loaded in tension.
I've recently had the opportunity to take another look at plasticity in the large deformation context. I've avoided going into geometric and other issues involved with multiplicative deformations (points stressed in earlier blog posts by Giovanni (node/11545), Arash (node/11623) and Xiabo (node/11599). Attached are some old notes that I'd prepared some years ago to help me with the details. I hope they're of use to other students of mechanics.
