EMI, the Engineering Mechanics Institute of ASCE, is pleased to announce the EMI 2017 Conference which will be held on June 4-7, 2017 in San Diego, California.  It will be chaired by Prof. J.S. Chen and Prof. Yuri Bazilevs, both of the University of California San Diego.

Professor Subra Suresh, Sc.D., NAE First Recipient of the Zdeněk P. Bažant Medal for Failure and Damage Prevention

At its April 12 meeting the Executive Committee of the ASCE Board of Direction approved Professor Subra Suresh, President of Carnegie Mellon University, as the winner of the Zdeněk P. Bažant Medal for Failure and Damage Prevention Medal “for his pioneering work on failure and damage prevention of metallic and composite materials under cyclic and other loadings.”

EMI 2016 / PMC 2016 Conference at Vanderbilt University - Abstract Submission Deadline Extended to October 31, 2015

In response to a number of requests, the abstract submission deadline for the EMI 2016 / PMC 2016 Conference at Vanderbilt University has been extended to October 31, 2015.

The event is actually two co-located conferences: the Engineering Mechanics Institute Conference 2016 (EMI 2016) and the Probabilistic Mechanics & Reliability Conference 2016 (PMC 2016). The event wil be chaired by Prof. Sankaran Mahadevan and Prof. Caglar Oskay, both of Vanderbilt University.

Call for Nominations for the Zdeněk P. Bažant Medal for Failure and Damage Prevention

EMI, the Engineering Mechanics Institute of ASCE, is pleased to announce that the ASCE Board of Direction has established the Zdenek P. Bazant Medal for Failure and Damage Prevention.  This award was established to honor Zdeněk P. Bažant, Ph.D., S.E., NAS, NAE, Hon.M.ASCE, a recognized expert in the field of analytical and computational modeling of failure of quasi-brittle materials.

The event to be held on May 22-25, 2016 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, is actually two co-located conferences: the Engineering Mechanics Institute Conference 2016 (EMI 2016) and the Probabilistic Mechanics & Reliability Conference 2016 (PMC 2016). CONCREEP-10,  the 10th Conference on Mechanics and Physics of Creep, Shrinkage and Durability of Concrete and Concrete Structures, will be organized  by the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) in cooperation with the Engineering Mechanics Institute of ASCE (EMI).  The conference will be held on September 21-23, 2015 at the  Vienna University of Technology in Vienna, Austria.  It will be chaired by Prof. Christian Hellmich, Prof. Johann Kollegger, and Prof. Bernhard Pichler, all of TU Wien.
