Extreme Mechanics Letters (EML) honors the best young researchers who have published their highly impactful papers in EML by bestowing upon them the EML Young Investigator Award (YIA). The winners of the EML YIA will be presented a certificate, an honorarium, and an opportunity to give an EML Webinar.

ASME Aerospace Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials (SSDM) Conference

ASME is launching a new conference called ASME Aerospace Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials (SSDM) Conference. The mission of this conference is to convene and serve the global aerospace structures, structural dynamics, and materials communities, continuing the legacy left behind by the AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC SDM conference. SSDM accepts two types of submissions: Paper (abstract deadline: Nov. 28) and Presentation Only (deadline: Feb. 13). The inaugural conference will be held in San Diego (June 19-21 2023).

PhD opening at UCLA

The Mechanics of Soft Materials Lab (https://www.msm.seas.ucla.edu/) at UCLA has a PhD opening to be filled in 2023 fall. The successful candidate is expected to work on modeling, simulations, and experiments of soft materials, soft tissue and soft machines. The ideal candidates will be highly motivated with a strong background in solid mechanics and computation, and be fluent in spoken and written English.
