Nanobrücken 2016: A Nanomechanical Testing Workshop & Hysitron User Meeting will take place March 2nd - 4th, 2016 at the INM - Leibniz Institute for New Materials in Saarbrücken, Germany. This will be the 6th edition of the now-annual Nanobrücken workshop series. 

As in the past, the workshop is open to all aspects of nanomechanical and nanotribological testing, including biomechanical, in-situ experimentation and theory/simulation.

Merge mesh in Abaqus

Hi I tried to mesh these two plates with two cases having different geometries. I am trying to achieve something similar in complex geometry in abaqus. But I think the problem is with shapes or if it is something else, please help me with this. I tried in solid elements too it did not work either. I have attached image where you can see two cases

finding contact time from maximum displacement for hertzian contact

While going through the derivation of contact time for a hertzian contact as given in problem 3 at the following link http://s17.postimg.org/t1kq6mlxr/Capture.png , I am not able to understand how the integral form for contact time has come into picture. Can anyone explain the in-between steps to get the same? I understand that this is a very trivial problem but it will be a great help to understand the steps. Thanks.
