PhD vacancy (4 years) on fatigue testing of composites with advanced instrumentation

Submitted by wvpaepeg on

Composites are used more and more as structural components in aerospace industry, automotive sector, wind energy applications,… As a consequence, the loads on those composite components are much higher than for secondary components, and can lead to fatigue damage in the composite part. Moreover, the fatigue behaviour of fibre-reinforced composites is much more complex than that of metals, because of the many different fibre/polymer combinations, the heterogeneous nature of the composite, the anisotropic behaviour of the composite and the multitude of damage mechanisms.

2 years PostDoctoral Position - Universities Lille & Paris 13 , Paris, France

Submitted by yann.charles on

2 years post Doctoral position is avalaible in France, on material science numerical modeling fields. This is a join project between Univ. Lille (UMET lab), Paris 13 (LSPM lab), CEA (IRFM lab) and Marseille univ. (PIIM lab).

The present postdoc subject is focused on the modeling of the interactions between impurities (H, He...) and tungsten.

PhD position in Computational Fluid Dynamics at Villanova University

Submitted by Chengyu Li on

A Ph.D. position is available at Villanova University, Department of Mechanical Engineering, to conduct numerical simulations of biological and physiological flows. Financial support for tuition and stipend will be provided. The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong background in numerical methods and programming skills. Previous in-house code development experience is strongly preferred. The candidate is expected to start in spring/fall 2019, but the highly qualified candidate is also welcome to begin in fall 2018.

Postdoctoral Research Associate Position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI.

Submitted by Ramathasan The… on

A Postdoctoral Research Associate Position is available in Professor R. Thevamaran's laboratory at the Department of Engineering Physics to study the dynamic behavior and properties of nanostructured metals and hierarchical materials. A strong background in experimental solid mechanics and materials science is required for this research.

Post-Doc position in nanoscale mechanics and molecular dynamics simulations

Submitted by Jan Ocenasek on

Job Summary: The successful candidate will join an internationally collaboration team of scientists in the New Technologies – Research Centre at University of West Bohemia, Czech Republic. He or she will contribute to ongoing research projects and have the opportunity to propose, design, and carry out new research efforts within the broader scope of the group's research topics, which focuses on molecular dynamics simulations of piezo-electric phenomena at nanoscale and metal plasticity at nanoscale.

Joint Johns Hopkins / ARL Postdoc Position

Submitted by mds2120 on

The Shields Uncertainty Research Group (SURG) in the Dept. of Civil Engineering at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and the Computational and Information Sciences Directorate of the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) are seeking applications for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow. The postdoc will work on a collaborative effort to build novel stochastic simulation-based methodologies for advanced computational uncertainty quantification in hierarchical materials modeling.
