One postdoctoral position in advanced concrete materials starting May 2012

Submitted by Mijia Yang on

Dear All,

I am looking for one postdoctor to work on advanced concrete materials and modeling. The desired candidates will have a solid knowledge on concrete materials and mechanics, and are familiar with advanced modeling of hydration, water or chemical transfer in concrete. Extra considerations will be given to candidates with some experimental experiences on concrete microstructures and material characterization.

Postdoctoral Position in Solid Mechanics

Submitted by ravishm on

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates an opening for a postdoctoral associate starting January 2012. The position’s primary area of research will focus on mechanics of micro-scale deformation processes and characterizing the thermomechanics of deformation at micrometer length-scales. Applicants with a strong background in computational solid mechanics and crystal plasticity will be preferred.

Interested Applicants are requested to Email their CV to:  ravishm [at] pitt [dot] edu

PhD and Post-doctoral Associate Positions Available at Rice University

Submitted by Rouzbeh1 on

Ph.D and postdoctoral associate positions are available at Rice University in the broad area of atomistic, molecular and multiscale modeling of cement-based materials. The projects include carrying out bottom-up atomistic and microtexture predictive simulations. Computational techniques will be integrated to approaches from statistical mechanics and physical chemistry to provide quantitative predictions of properties of cementitious materials across different time- and length-scales. The research will be carried out at Rice University’s Laboratory for Multiscale
Materials Modeling.

Successful candidates will join a small but very active multidisciplinary team, working in fluid dynamics and fluid-structure interaction problems.

Post-Doc in Grenoble, France: Atomic-scale twinning in HCP metals

Submitted by drodney on

A postdoctoral position is available in the material science laboratory (SIMAP) of INP Grenoble, France, in David Rodney’s group in collaboration with Laurent Capolungo from Georgia Tech Lorraine, with primary focus on the atomic-scale study of twinning in HCP metals. We are looking for a strongly motivated candidate to apply saddle-point search methods, including the Nudged Elastic Band method and the Activation Relaxation Technique, to study the nucleation and propagation of primary and secondary twins during the plastic deformation of HCP metals.
