modelling the crack in Abaqus

Submitted by mahyar on

Hi colleage

I am working on fracture mechanics recently and i am using Abaqus to do it, i am a new user in this software so i have some problems, in getting results and ... i want to get some variable such as J-integral, S.iF, number of cycles and ... but unfortunatelly i donno how to get it .

i want to ask if anybody can send me a sample of abaqus in this srea, then i can study and practise according to it and after that i can go through my project.

UMAT non-isothermal isotropic hardening

Choose a channel featured in the header of iMechanica

Hi All,

I have a problem that I need to take in to account the elastic, thermal and plastic strains (with isotropic hardening). Temperature is changing and the corresponding material properties (elastic, plastic) are temperature dependent. This can be done in Abaqus without using subroutines. As I should add some other features I need to write an UMAT.

Double diffusive natural convection of CO2

My recent simulation results http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyUNj7HEaro and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEMrxHo_Z7s&feature=relmfu show how CO2 will dissolve in subsurface porous media after injection. The former results due to both density and geothermal gradients where the later is the results for only density difference.

Dynamic shear localization and softening: Microstructural, thermal or both?

Submitted by D.Rittel on

This basic question is discussed in a paper with S. Osovski and A. Venkert, to appear in Mechanics of Materials.

We definitely enjoyed working on this aspect of the dynamic shear localization failure process (aka adiabatic shear) and I hope you will enjoy reading it! Comments are welcome :=)

Inverse of the 4th rank tensor

Submitted by Mubeen on

Hi all,

I am looking for an algorithm to get the inverse of a 4th rank tensor (e.g. the compliance tensor S_(ijkl) from elastic stiffness tensor C_(ijkl)) S_(ijkl)=C_(ijkl)^(-1)

I am programming in FORTRAN, and for this purpose I wasn't able to find neither any algorithm nor any existing subroutine.

If anyone at this forum has any idea about this inversion, kindly guide me.

Best regards,

Mubeen.

Non zero initial accelerations in a dynamic computation on Abaqus

Submitted by mtannous on

I want to start a dynamic calculation in Abaqus in which, for every node, I specify the displacements, velocities and accelerations. I know that by the *IMPORT command, I can start a calculation with a deformed mesh, and that the velocities can be defined by in the *INITIAL CONDITIONS, but how to deal with non zero user defined accelerations? Have any body did that? Is it possible with a subroutine?

Thanks for any help
