Postdoctoral vacancy (3 years) on patient-specific design and finite element modelling of 3D printed medical implants

3D printing or Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies carry the promise of revolutionizing the quality and efficiency of healthcare. However, the required technologies, even when available, are currently too fragmented to be integrated into routine, affordable and streamlined solutions that can benefit a large number of patients. The challenge thereby is to deliver 3D printing technologies that enable:

Image-based Finite Element Method for Industry 2018: Swansea, 3-6 Sep 2018

Image-based meshing is the process by which 3D images (e.g. X-ray CT or laser scanning) are converted into ultra-high resolution simulations. 3D imaging is increasingly being used in the industrial sector for inspection, non-destructive testing / evaluation (NDT/NDE) and metrology but image-based modelling is still an underutilised technique. Our aim is that the activities of IBFEM-4i will facilitate a wider adoption of image-based modelling and provide a platform to discuss the cutting-edge developments in the field.

User-defined amplitudeS using UAMP subroutine in ABAQUS

Choose a channel featured in the header of iMechanica:

Dear all,

I need to use two user-defined amplitudes in my model in order to apply two separate variable-dependent forces on two separate partitions. I have been struggling with this for long now, and the documentation says "There is one exception in Abaqus/Standard: only one solution-dependent amplitude (used for superplastic forming) can be active during each step."

I see the possibility of defining multiple solution-dependent amplitudes in CAE, but in UAMP the variables such as ampValueOld, ampValueNew, etc. may take only one value.

Namaste from India.Jay Naik here. I am Post graduation Student doing Specialization in Machine Design.I am Doing My project in Master in area of" Design of storage tank" in One of the reputed company in Static Equipment Design.Any Idea on which Software(Fea or failure analysis) Design of storage tank is carried out?I have heard about AMETank and Ansys.

Secondly i am carrying out Literature review Present days.reading API 650 and other standards.Suggestion requires in this area.

Please guide me in proper manner.in which way i should carry out the project in systematic way.

Newton Raphson for FEM

Choose a channel featured in the header of iMechanica:

Hi,

I am currently working on a FEM  2d plane strain elastic model in matlab. The next step would be to use a non linear constiutive law (Mohr-Coulomb). As far as I have been reading non linearities, are solved with iteration schemes. My question is how to compute the tangent matrix with the N.Raphson method? I have seen only case for polynomials, but not for matrices.

Regards!
