Simpleware Case Study: Vertebral Endplate Morphology and Permeability

Submitted by Simpleware on

This study used Simpleware software and ANSYS Fluent to investigate the transport properties of the bony endplate (BEP). Understanding the BEP is important when considering fluid and nutrient exchanges between vertebra and intervertebral discs (IVDs. uCT and CFD were combined to evaluate the 3D microstructure and resistance to fluid flow of the BEP, resulting in a calculation of tissue permeability. The results demonstrated the value of image-based modelling and CFD for analysis of complex processes within the human body.

Case Study Effect of Pore Size on Pellet-Based Catalyst Flow

Submitted by Simpleware on

We have a new case study on our website based on research at Imperial College into multiscale tomography and calculating permeability for catalysts. The project involved studying the influence of pore structure on fluid flow across large length scales in silica-alumina pellet-based catalysts.

3D data at different length scales was obtained from XMT, DBFIB-SEM and ET scanning and segmented into a binarised dataset.

Explicit Dynamics with ANSYS LS-DYNA training course

Submitted by kristeen on

This training course covers the ANSYS LS-DYNA Interface, which seamlessly links the ANSYTS traditional environment pre- and post-processing software with the LS-DYNA explicit solver to conduct highly nonlinear, transient dynamic analyses. Sequential solutions are also discussed, in which the ANSYS implicit solver is used in conjunction with the LS-DYNA explicit solver to extend the range of applications.

Dassault Systèmes welcomes Safe Technology!

Submitted by SIMULIA on

We're very pleased to announce that Dassault Systèmes has acquired Safe Technology, Ltd., the developer of the fe-safe durability simulation application suite.

Even if you haven’t used their products, you’ve probably heard the name – Safe Technology
has been a partner of ours for over 15 years, providing a fatigue
solution to Abaqus users through fe-safe. As an add-on to Abaqus/CAE,
fe-safe uses proven techniques to accurately determine the fatigue life
of metal components under complex cyclic loading. fe-safe combines

Finite Element software Z-set : new web page

Submitted by Vladislav Yastrebov on

New web page of Finite Element Analysis software Z-set is now open: http://zset-software.com/

What is Z-set

Z-set is a computational code devoted to the analysis of material and
structure behavior, involving a finite element solver and a collection
of specific tools for material parameter calibration, preprocessing and
postprocessing computations. Z-set is the result of 30 years of close collaboration between the

FIDESYS 1.0 is released

Submitted by nitelm on

Hello Everyone,

FIDESYS Desktop version is released.

FIDESYS is developed by the staff of Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. It is a competitive FEA solution package for structural mechanics. It is designed to be less hardware demanding and more cost affective for the user. For further information please visit the following site:
