Jobs: Assistant or untenured Associate Professor (Stanford - EE)

Submitted by StanfordEE on

The Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University (http://ee.stanford.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor) in the broadly defined field of electrical and computer engineering. Priority will be given to the overall originality and promise of the candidate’s work over any specific area of specialization.

Synopsys at 2019 Frontiers in Medical Devices, Washington, March 2019

Submitted by Simpleware on

Date / Time: March 19-21, 2019

Location: College Park Marriott Hotel, University of Maryland, Washington, DC, USA

Synopsys will be the 2019 BMES/FDA Frontiers in Medical Devices event to talk about how Simpleware software is used for medical device design and biomedical engineering. We will also be providing a technology showcase seminar to demonstrate how to go from 3D image data to models for different applications.

Postdoc opening in 3D printing of biomedical implants at Johns Hopkins University

Submitted by Sung Hoon Kang on

Immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow to work on 3D printing of biomedical implants such as vascular conduits. The project involves design and development of processes to print biocompatible materials with shape change properties. These constructs will be characterized using conventional soft-material techniques and their interactions with cells and biological fluids will be investigated.

Simpleware Workshop at CMBBE 2015

Submitted by Simpleware on

We're running a workshop at the 13th International Symposium on Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering (CMBBE) in Montreal, Canada.

Date: Thursday, September 3rd 2015
Time: 3.25pm-5.30pm
Presenter: Tom Spirka (PhD)

The workshop allows attendees to learn about the many capabilities in our software for generating models from 3D image data (such as MRI and CT) for biomechanics and biomedical engineering. It will cover topics such as:

Simpleware Case Study: Vertebral Endplate Morphology and Permeability

Submitted by Simpleware on

This study used Simpleware software and ANSYS Fluent to investigate the transport properties of the bony endplate (BEP). Understanding the BEP is important when considering fluid and nutrient exchanges between vertebra and intervertebral discs (IVDs. uCT and CFD were combined to evaluate the 3D microstructure and resistance to fluid flow of the BEP, resulting in a calculation of tissue permeability. The results demonstrated the value of image-based modelling and CFD for analysis of complex processes within the human body.

Distinguished Researcher to Speak at NJIT on Preventing Bone Loss

Submitted by TanjaLeijs on

Biomedical researcher Stephen C. Cowin will describe a promising model for studying nutrient transport from the vascular system to bone tissue

Preventing bone deterioration is a critical aspect of combating osteoporosis, improving bone implants, and even making long-term space flight possible, such as voyages to Mars and beyond. On April 9, noted biomedical researcher Stephen C. Cowin will describe a promising model for studying nutrient transport from the vascular system to bone tissue, transport that has a direct bearing on the prevention of bone loss.
