Measurement of Cutting Tool Edge With 3D Metrology
For a particular tool, the edges precision is expected to meet intended results during use in machining. Because the depth of cut is controlled to the nanometer level, the tool cutting edge profile is an important factor to influence the final quality of a machined surface. By analysis of a 3D-Profilometer the edge correctness can be determined to insure quality control before production and or during the life of the tool.

Dear All,
cohesive zone modeling of interface fracture : comparisons
Hello,
(for completing R. Huang's post : node/7396).
A few years ago, some colleages (from Italy, UK and Brazil) and I proposed some comparisons of the behavior of cohesize zone models. This was presented during ECCM 2004. The paper is attached.

Simulate moving laser beam on a plate in ANSYS
Hi everyone!
I've been trying ansys for a few weeks but in vain. I'm trying to inject a heat source(laser) on a 2D rect plate. I'm not sure on the corrct way to add the boundary conditions. This is what I do:
1. assuming room temp so i added 298K to the bottom, left and right using define loads >add_temp>lines
2.next i inject a heat source say 1000K using define loads>add_temp_on nodes to a few surface center nodes (meaning the top surface still have undefine boundary conditions)
How to classify vehicle parts into sprung and unsprung mass?
I am currently working on deriving equations for different vehicle models using Lagrangian and Newtonian methods. I am need of parameters to test few MATLAB models, and in vague to know exactly how to classify the mass into sprung and unsprung. Similarly, how do I obtain the MOI separately for the unsprung mass?
Connector - Join + Cardan
hi, i am using connector - jin + cardan to connect 2 beam elements; a beam and a column.
i applied a tip load to the edge of the beam in abaqus standard. for the connector, i keyed in the elastic properties and the plastic properties in terms of plastic moment and plastic rotation.
Shape alloy
thank you for comments. Could you clarify to me what do you mean from generation force? as I know there is no generation force. in fact i think this is a energy transformation.

I am trying to simulate and spring analysis by using concentrated force on Abaqus 6.9.
Job cannot be performed due to the following warning and error. May i know the solution!
