A Postdoctoral Research Associate Position is available in Professor R. Thevamaran's laboratory at the Department of Engineering Physics to study the dynamic behavior and properties of nanostructured metals and hierarchical materials. A strong background in experimental solid mechanics and materials science is required for this research.

A PhD studentship is available at the University of Southampton as part of a collaboration with MatchID NV. It consists at exploring new heterogeneous test configurations for composites and elastomers, based on Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and the Virtual Fields Method (VFM). The overarching goal is to propose new standard tests relying on heterogeneous states of strain and stress for cheaper and more robust material testing.

The laboratories of Profs. Seetha Raghavan and Ranajay Ghosh at the University of Central Florida, Orlando welcomes applications for a postdoctoral scholar to commence work in Spring 2018 and a PhD student to join the group in Spring 2018 or Fall 2018 as part of a multi-year research project funded by the US Department of Energy.

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in Dr. Yong Zhu’s lab in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University. The project involves mechanics, multiphysics and interface mechanics of two-dimensioanl (2D) nanomaterials. The successful candidate will have the opportunities to collaborate with researchers in the areas ranging from nanomaterial synthesis to atomistic simulation. 

As part of my EPSRC Fellowship programme, I am now recruiting the second post-doctoral fellow associated with the project. I am looking for a talented young researcher with skills in experimental mechanics, particularly in the field of high rate testing of materials and high speed imaging for full-field deformation measurements. We report a novel optical microscope for full-field, noncontact measurements of three-dimensional (3D) surface deformation and topography at the microscale. The microscope system is based on a seamless integration of the diffraction-assisted image correlation (DAIC) method with fluorescent microscopy. We experimentally demonstrate the microscope’s capability for 3D measurements with submicrometer spatial resolution and subpixel measurement accuracy.
