The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University (Ithaca campus) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the broad area of dynamics related to the mechanics of structures and materials. Our definition of structures is broad and includes buildings, bridges, dikes, wind turbines, and solar devices/solar panels.

We are interested in applicants whose research is related to any of the following or related areas:
    • Material and/or structural response to dynamic loading arising from wind, waves, blast, seismic waves

Ph.D/Postdoc positions will be available at the Programmable Materials and Structures lab (www.promastlab.com) of the University of Pavia in Italy. Candidates with background in mechanics, materials, finite element analysis, topology optimization, 4D printing are all welcome to apply.

PhD positions are  available in the group of Prof. Stefano Gonella at the University of Minnesota. The positions are in the general area of mechanics and physics of solids, with emphasis on mechanical and elastic metamaterials and wave physics.

Below is information about a short course I will be offering at MIT this summer, in Live Virtual format: Machine Learning for Materials Informatics (Jul 29 - Aug 2, 2024).  This is an exciting opportunity that will cover fundamentals and applications in the emerging space of AI/ML for engineering, featuring hands-on interactive code development in Jupyter notebooks. We'll do a deep dive into all critical tools from autoencoders to graph neural nets to multimodal LLMs and multi-agent modeling. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

The research group Mechanics of Materials and Structures at Ghent University (UGent-MMS) has 5 vacancies for PhD and postdoc research in the field of fibre-reinforced composites. The vacancies are linked to research on composite hydrogen tanks, micromechanical testing of composites and finite element modelling of textile connections.
