The recently founded Group of Appleid mechanics in Enviormental & Civil Engineering Department at Michigan State University has a few openings for PhD positions to work on Multiscale Modeling of Soft Materials starting Fall 2014.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for several tenure-track faculty positions to begin September 2014 or thereafter. Appointments will be at the assistant or untenured associate professor level.

A postdoctoral research scientist position is available immediately in the Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University. This position is renewable (up to three years) depending on performance. The main responsibility of the project, sponsored by ARPA-E, is to perform computer simulations of crashworthiness of electric vehicles using finite element method. It also involves multiscale modeling of a new type of impact resistant lithium-ion battery, as well as structural design and optimization.

The 7th International Conference in the series will take place once again at Les Diablerets, in Switzerland on 14-18 September 2014.
