There is a PhD (RA) position available starting in the spring 2013 in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T- formerly known as University of Missouri-Rolla). MSE program at Missouri S&T is one of the largest and most respected MSE programs in the Us (http://mse.mst.edu).
The Ph.D. research project is about developing a multi-phase-field model for multi-component alloy solidification.
We have a likely opening for a postdoctoral theorist to work with Dr. Qingda Yang (University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida) and Drs. Dave Marshall and Brian Cox (Teledyne Scientific Co LLC, Thousand Oaks, California). The project involves development of advanced computational methods for simulating discrete damage evolution in composite materials and the application of simulations to the interpretation and analysis of experiments, including new high temperature mCT and image correlation experiments being conducted at UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara, respectively.
My name is Kamal C. Das and I am doing research on Computational Geomechanics at IIT Kharagpur,
India. I have submitted my Ph.D. thesis, titled 'Enriched Finite Element Method
and Application in Reinforced Jointed Rock Mass' on August 21, 2012. Currently,
I am looking for a post doctoral position.
To
introduce myself as a researcher, I had a bachelor and master degree in
Mathematics. As I always wanted to see myself
solving mathematical problems with direct applications, I started my career as
The Division seeks to employ a Post Doctoral Fellow within the Hydraulic Fracturing research team. The Post Doctoral Fellow will be required to work on a project to develop a new capability in the interpretation of remote sensing data for the purpose of hydraulic fracturing monitoring.
At the nanobiophysics laboratory we are looking for a post doc to participate on an experimental work regarding the tuning of fluorescence in nanoparticles under the effect of pressure. We believe that it is the strain rather the pressure that is causing the shift in the emission. We are also investigating this effect using numerical models. While we are looking for an experimentalist urgently we will be looking for a theoretician/numerical guy in a year. All welcome if you have the right attitude and motivation.
The School of Engineering at Brown University is seeking to fill positions in Solid Mechanics at any academic level to start in July 2013. Applications should be received by December 31, 2012 to receive full consideration. Women and candidates who are members of minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.Brown University is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action employer. Positions are open at all levels. For further information and instructions on how to apply, view the attachment below or visit: brown.edu/academics/engineering/facultysearch
The Post-Doc position is open for 2013-2014 (2 years) at the
Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia in
Pilsen, Czech republic. Details to be announced at the end of September 2012.
MCS Kenny is currently recruiting for Experienced Finite Element Analysts to join our expanding team in Galway, Ireland. We have challenging projects requiring the analysis of complex subsea components and structures for the oil and gas industry.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is accepting applications for the position of Department Chair and Professor, with tenure, starting ideally by September 1, 2013.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Sharjah is seeking applicants for a one year visiting position (starting January 2013) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of Design and Manufacturing. Strong preference will be given to candidates with degrees (BS, MS, PhD) from a western-style university that is ABET (or equivalent) accredited. Teaching experience in an American model of higher education and work experience in North American industry are highly desirable. Also, prior teaching experience in Manufacturing is desirable.
The Research Center for Mechanics of Solids, Structures and Materials at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for an open position as Post-doctoral Fellow. The specific project involves the characterization of the constitutive and failure behavior of structural materials (aluminum alloys, steels, titanium alloys, metal-matrix composites, polymers and other selected materials) under quasi-static and dynamic conditions.
Two PhD student positions at Particles and Grains Laboratory, The University of Sydney, Australia
The research project is concerning the micromechanics of granular materials, which include time-dependent deformation of geo-materials, thermal-mechanical behaviour at elevated temperatures, and transport phenomena in porous media. In this project, the main objectives are to characterise and understand fundamental deformation mechanisms from the grain level, and develop material models with grain-scale information with multi-scale approaches using simulations and experiments.
The Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics (ESM) at Virginia Tech seeks applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the general area of dynamical systems with applications to mechanics. Appointment will be at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. Exceptionally qualified candidates may also be eligible for a named professor appointment.
A PhD position is available under the supervision of Prof. Chierichetti in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Two postdoctoral positions are
available in the area of applied mechanics/mechanical design at the National
University of Singapore, Singapore. Experiment
experience is a plus. One may focus on energy harvesting using soft active
materials, while the other may focus on soft robots.
