3D phenomenological constitutive modeling of shape memory alloys based on microplane theory

Submitted by R.Mehrabi on

This paper is studied constitutive modeling of SMAs, that have some new features. Also some multiaxial loadings on SMAs are investigated experimentally.

Principle of minimum potential energy -- why is it true?

Submitted by Jayadeep U. B. on

Dear all,

Two fundamental concepts from thermodynamics are that systems try to minimise their potential energy, whereas the tendency is to maximise the entropy (ofcourse I am not at all precise in the above statement, but I hope I am able to convey the matter.  Further, the two can be combined in the form of a free enrgy as applicable to the system under consideration).

Geometry import in ABAQUS / FE Software

Submitted by PRITI YADAV on

Hello All,

I am having ¨.asc¨and ¨.obj¨geometry files, which I wanted to import in ABAQUS. The problem is ABAQUS is not having direct option to import these files. Please anybody suggest me how can I take these files into ABAQUS or else suggest me any other FE software, which support ¨.asc¨and ¨.obj¨ geomtery file format.

Surface Boundary Measurement Using 3D Profilometry

Submitted by NANOVEA on

In profilometer studies where the interface of surface features, patterns, shapes etc., are being evaluated for orientation, it will be useful to quickly identify areas of interest over the entire profile of measurement. By segmenting a surface into significant areas the user can quickly evaluate boundaries, peaks, pits, areas, volumes and many others to understand their functional role in the entire surface profile under study.
