Two open PhD positions in multi-physics process and performance modeling of alloys at the University of Tennessee

Submitted by Timothy Truster on

We have two open PhD position starting in the Fall semester 2020 at the Computational Laboratory for the Mechanics of Interfaces at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville (http://clmi.utk.edu). First research topic centers upon the modeling of texture evolution during processing (e.g. cogging and rolling) of titanium alloys using crystal plasticity and Fast Fourier Transform methods to couple the mesoscale and specimen scale.

PhD Position in Nanocrystalline Alloys at the University of Vermont (USA)

Submitted by Fred Sansoz on

A new PhD position is available immediately in my group in the area of computational atomistic modeling of grain-boundary segregation and plasticity mechanisms in nanocrystalline alloys. Full description available in the attached file.

Multiple faculty positions in Mechanics and Materials at TU/e Eindhoven

Submitted by Marc Geers on

There are several openings for faculty positions in the field of Mechanics and Materials in our Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Eindhoven University of Technology in The Netherlands. The department is seeking for outstanding faculty members at all levels and in particular the fields of Function integration in material systems and Development, optimization and behaviour of new advanced materials. At present, talented people with an experimental profile are strongly encouraged to apply.

Tenure Track Position of Solid Mechanics (SUNY Binghamton)

Submitted by Pu Zhang on

Job Description:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the State University of New York at Binghamton invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in solid mechanics at the assistant professor level beginning Fall 2020.  Candidates must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.

Postdoc Opening in Computational Materials Science at Rutgers University

Submitted by rbsills on

The microMechanics of Deformation Research Group (mMOD) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Rutgers University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate to participate in a pair of collaborative projects with a Department of Energy National Laboratory. The projects are focused on using discrete dislocation dynamics (DDD) simulations to understand dislocation patterning in deformed metals, and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to understanding crack initiation in hydrogen-affected steels.

Post-doc position in microstructure modeling at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore

Submitted by Guglielmo Vastola on

The Additive Microstructure Engineering Laboratory (AddME Lab) in the school of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NTU (Singapore) is a young, diverse, and interdisciplinary research group with interests in in-line microstructure control and assessment during selective laser melting (SLM) processes. In this framework, we are collaborating with the Institute of High Performance Computing under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), to simulate the microstructure of metals produced during SLM.
