Attenuated short wavelength buckling and force propagation in a biopolymer-reinforced rod

In this paper, we investigate short wavelength buckling of a thin elastic rod embedded in an elastic gelatin biopolymer network. Using a combination of micro-mechanical testing, microscopic imaging, as well as theory, we show that the buckling penetration depth can be tuned by varying the mechanical properties of the rod and the rod–gel interface.

 Can any one please help me out in Nonlinear analysis of beams using Direct iteration method or Newton Raphson.

Here i am producing some of algorithms from the book of J.N.Reddy,"An_Introduction_to_Nonlinear_Finite_Element_Analysis__2004".

I have a doubt in the term DW, whether that is the difference between transverse dispalcements of Consecutive Nodes  or the difference between transverse dispalcements of Node on Consecutive iterations.

Hi,



i try to simulate a 3 points bending of a glass plate with abaqus.



force 1kN !



young modulus = 7e10 Pa



Poisson's ratio = 0.22



- the plate is square (30 cm) , thickness 8.72 mm



- i use 3D extruded solid



- for the load i can't create a line load so i replace this load by pressure in a thin surface (2mm*30cm) applied in the center of the plate



- C3D8R element type



 but the results are strange:



Simulation of Drilling composite plate in Abaqus

Hello Everyone,

I am doing a project in which I am trying to simulate the drilling of composite( FRP ) . My aim is to know the thrust force and torque so as to predict the delamination and min the damage due to drilling process .

i am completely new to abaqus so can any one please guide me how to simulate the drilling process in ABAQUS . 

Could anyone provide some information in this regard?

Can I simulate a drop-test of a model having crack in it in Abaqus/explicit.

If yes, whether Contour integral crack type can be used or I have to use XFEM?

How to calculate nodal velocity for 2D domian from the calculated Pressure head

Hi,

I have suceeed in making a code for water flow in unsaturated  media by using FAESOR, I am having a trouble in calculating the velocity from this nodal pressure in x and z direction. Flux equation is  Q =  K(nabla) (Ψ+1).. (I did not find the symbole for nabla in your symbols for writing the BODY).

For this I use  Flux = ((Ns{j})'*((HYC* (Jac * w(j)))*Ndersp')')',,, where HYC is the similar to Hydraulic conductivity similar to heat conductivity.

Above formula gives me Flux, a array having two elements,
