Mini-symposium description
The Maudslay-Butler Research Fellowship in Engineering was established to encourage the highest quality of research in any area of Engineering. The Research Fellow will develop and benefit from close links with the University’s Department of Engineering. The Maudslay Trust, which supports the Research Fellowship, commemorates Henry Maudslay, a pioneering mechanical engineer. We welcome applications from any candidates who have recently completed a Ph.D. or who will be expected to complete their Ph.D.

JOB DESCRIPTION
IHPC is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to conduct research in computational mechanics specifically in soft robotics. The project focuses on developing and adopting large deformation constitutive model for smart materials, simulation of soft robotic behavior with complex contact scenarios, and machine learning study on the dynamics of soft robotic system.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Postdoc positions are available in the group of Prof. JG Zhu at Jiangsu University, China. Those possessing PhDs in the area of non-destructive technology are sought. A fully funded PhD position is available as early as Spring, 2022 in Dr. Ning Zhang’s research group at the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa), the department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. This position is in the general area of mechanics, structural and multifunctional materials with focus on mechanical and thermal properties.
The research topics include:
(1) Polymer composites;
(2) 2D materials;
(3) Shape memory ceramics/alloys;
(4) High entropy alloys;
(5) Biomaterials.
Dynamic Systems and Intelligent Machines (DSIM) Lab at the San Diego State University has an open PhD position in the areas of perception, planning, and control of autonomous systems. Highly motivated applicants with prior experience in robotics, control, and machine learning and strong programming skills and mathematical background are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
