Fracture analysis of crack using ANSYS
HI,
I trying to find the SIF for a crack on lower jaw of a locking piler. Please somebody tell me how to insert edge crack in 3D body.

Dear imechanica members,
I am glat to inform your the organization of the workshop "Impact of mechanical and thermal loads on the long term stability of PV modules" on 05th November 2013 at ISFH (Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin), in Hamelin, Germany.
Dear all,
in commercial FE codes, such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, there is option to get convergence in quasi-static analysis by using artificial damping factor. I tried to dig their documentation about this method, but it is somewhat sparse. Could some body recommend me some literature about this topic so that I can gain a better understanding about it.
I thank you in advance.
Sincerely yours,
Ken

Atomistic-to-Continuum Multiscale Modeling with Long-Range Electrostatic Interactions in Ionic Solids
by Jason Marshall and Kaushik Dayal, Carnegie Mellon University
Abstract
We present a multiscale atomistic-to-continuum method for ionic crystals with defects. Defects
One post-doctoral fellowship is available in RealTcut, funded by the Strasbourg Institute of Advanced Study
http://www.usias.fr/fr/fellows-2013/
The goal of the post-doc is to extend the preliminary results which can be seen here: http://youtu.be/KqM7rh6sE8s and will appear shortly in the journal Medical Image Analysis
We are currently looking for a PhD
student in the area of Computational Structural Mechanics. PhD applicants with a MS degree and publication in the area of solid mechanics,
computational mechanics and finite element analysis will be preferred.
Please send your application (including
CV and representative publications) to ali.tamijani [at] erau.edu (ali[dot]tamijani[at]erau[dot]edu)
by November 1st 2013.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for several tenure-track faculty positions to begin September 2014 or thereafter. Appointments will be at the assistant or untenured associate professor level.
Dear all,
I am trying to perform a pre-stress modal analysis of a cylindrical shell in ABAQUS, and I am unable to transfer data from step-1 to step-2. Due to this
results are the same as the modal analysis of the beam without the
static force.
Anybody know the solution of this kind of problem, kindely let me know..

I have a doubt regarding the Hyperelastic and Viscoelastic material modelling in ANSYS using Mooney-Rivlin material constants.
ANSYS theory manual says that for large deformation and large strains, the material modelling (i.e. constitutive behaviour) is same for hyperelastic and viscoelastic. Is it so?
Generally, Mooney-Rivlin material constants are used to model Hyperelastic behaviour (rubber-like materials).
Dear all,
