2nd Call for Abstracts: USNCCM13 Minisymposium 414 on Recent Advances in Mesh Adaptivity for Inelasticity, Damage, Crack Propagation and Failure.

In this minisymposium we seek to highlight challenging problems in computational solid mechanics that require mesh adaptation methods for their solution. We focus on the finite element method and works that address large deformations and the accompanying inelasticity, damage, crack propagation and failure. Discussion will center on Lagrangian descriptions and determining the necessary computational components to resolve, preserve, and evolve the fields that govern these processes. Prototypical material systems may include, but are not limited to, ductile metals and biomaterials.

Microstructurally based cross-slip mechanisms and their effects on dislocation microstructure evolution in fcc crystals

Three newly identified cross-slip mechanisms from atomistic simulations of fcc crystals, namely surface, bulk and intersection cross-slip types, were hierarchically informed into discrete dislocation dynamics simulations. The influence of each cross-slip type on the evolution of the dislocation microstructure in face-centered cubic microcrystals having different crystal sizes and initial dislocation densities was investigated.

i need help about concrete damaged plasticity

fo example :

if Compressive stress (Fu)= 51.2 MPa

and tension stress (σ t)=0.3 x 51.2^(2/3)=4.136

1)why (σ t) is 2.36 in picture(uploaded)?

2)what is tension strain ? and how? i cant understand.

i cant obtain εt = total tensile strain.

how obtain εcr ?

please help
