Τhe Greek Association of Computational Mechanics (GRACM) in association with the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Departments of the University of Thessaly will organize the 8th GRACM conference in a series of congresses in the area of computational mechanics. The conference will be held between the 12th and 15th of July 2015 in the facilities of the University of Thessaly in Volos which is the host city of most of its academic departments.

The 2014 Nathan M. Newmark Medal was awarded to Professor Herbert A. Mang at the annual ASCE Structures Conference, which took place in Boston, April 3–5, 2014. Professor Mang was awarded the Newmark Medal for his outstanding research contributions in the area of nonlinear continuum and computational mechanics that clarified the cause of collapse of important concrete structures and quantified the influence of the initial post buckling behavior of metallic structures.

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in computational damage mechanics is
available immediately at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in Abu
Dhabi in United Arab Emirates. Masdar Institute is established in collaboration
with Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The research project focuses on
using advanced computational fracture and damage mechanics for simulating the
behavior of advanced materials under different loading and environmental
conditions. The candidate is expected to have a PhD in the field of Mechanical,
